A few months back, it was in news that Bhatt brothers have conducted talent hunt to hunt new faces for their upcoming film ‘Aashqui 2’. There is bad news for all of them who might have tried for this. Bhatt brothers have selected some stars who are already working in the film industry. So no new faces for main roles!
‘Aashqui 2’ is said to be the sequel of ‘Aashqui’ which was 1990 musical blockbuster and which gave name and fame to Rahul Roy, Anu Aggrawal and its music directors Nadeem-Shravan.
However, in the sequel of ‘Aashqui’, the lead roles will be played by Shaad Randhawa and Aditya Roy Kapoor, and the girl will be played by Shraddha Kapoor. It should be noted that Shraddha Kapoor is the daughter of Shakti Kapoor who tried her fate with ‘Teen Patti’ starring Amitabh Bachchan but the film flopped. She was again supposed to play opposite Prateik Babbar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘My Friend Pinto’ but due to some reasons that role was given to Kalki Koechin. Thereafter Shraddha did ‘Luv Ka The End’ of Yash Raj banner but again she didn’t get any benefit.
Hope her career takes some height after she has got into Bhatt brothers’ production company. In an interview Mukesh Bhatt said, "We found Shraddha very talented. All three actors have extremely challenging dramatic roles. It's not a film about only looking good, singing and dancing. These are performance-oriented parts, and we're convinced that ‘Aashiqui 2’ would do for Shraddha, Aditya and Shaad what the first Aashiqui did for Rahul, Anu and Deepak Taijori."
It is speculated that ‘Aashiqui 2’ is a remake of the Bhatts' 1990 Anil Kapoor-Meenakshi Sheshadri-Govinda love triangle ‘Awaargi’'. However, Bhatt brothers deny this. "Aashiqui 2’ is not a remake of any of our films," they say. "It's an original script .It's a contemporary love story dealing with mature emotions."
